wildHERness is empowering women to step boldly into the outdoors, discover new passions, and build confidence through hands-on experiences. We create a welcoming space where women can explore hunting, fishing, homesteading, and more -- while being supported every step of the way. At its heart, our mission is to inspire women to explore their wild and find community in the process.

Our Vision

Our vision is a future where women are confident and capable in the outdoors, carrying forward traditions while shaping new ones. We aim to build sustainable programs that expand access to outdoor education, strengthen community relationships, and create pathways for lifelong engagement. By breaking down barriers and fostering confidence through skill-building, we envision a stronger, more diverse outdoor community where women inspire and support one another for generations to come.

Our History

wildHERness was created in 2020 with the goal of connecting women to the outdoors through education, mentorship, and community. What began as a small effort to provide women with accessible hands-on opportunities in recreation, hunting, homesteading, and other outdoor skills quickly grew into a supportive network of participants, volunteers, and mentors. Since its founding, wildHERness has hosted camps, workshops, and immersive experiences that empower women to build confidence, develop lasting skills, and find belonging in the outdoors.

For the past five years, we have been building a community where women can discover confidence, adventure, and connection in the outdoors. Now we are inviting passionate leaders to join us on that journey as part of our Board of Directors.

As a board member, your opportunities for support would include:

· Strategic Leadership: Help define wildHERness’s short- and long-term direction.

· Governance and Oversight: Ensure strong financial stewardship and policy compliance.

· Ambassadorship & Fundraising: Support outreach, partnerships, and donor cultivation.

· Community Engagement: Advocate for inclusivity and help strengthen event offerings for women and youth.

As a board member, wildHERness would ask for the following commitments:

· A service period of two years, with a projected time commitment of 3-5 hours per month which could fluctuate based on pending projects.

· As a team, plan and execute one fundraiser per calendar year.

· Attendance at quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person) in addition to any other work groups scheduled.
